Enrolling your Little Girl on a Dance Class
A dance class is something parents and children are excited to look forward to. Especially for kids, dance is a fantastic activity where they can foster positive self-image for themselves. Enrolling your little girl to a dance class teaches her poise, grace, self-discipline, and self-confidence. Studies show that children introduced to dancing at a young age are more likely to grow up with a passion for movement and rhythm and love of the arts. Dancing is, without a doubt, an entertaining way for children to help them boost their confidence.
If you’re thinking of enrolling your child in a dance class, keep in mind that there is more to dancing than just their cute girls dancewear. Here are some key factors parents should learn about dancing classes for children.
When do they start?
Some parents believe children can start taking dance lessons as early as their second birthday. Preschoolers and toddlers begin with creative movement classes to prepare them for the more structured lessons. If you have a four or five-year-old little girl, think of her personality and emotional maturity as well. Shy and timid children who feel uncomfortable with taking dance lessons should not be forced to enroll because this will somehow discourage her from appreciating dance lessons altogether. Listen to your child when you can. If you feel like she’s prepared for it, the earlier you start, the better.
Look for the right dance studio
Over the years, dancing became very popular, so the option for a proper studio can be overwhelming. Create a list of the dance studio that you’re likely to enroll your child to. Visit them if possible. Remember that all dance studios are not created equal. Do your research so you’ll have the best quality of dance instruction to give to your little girl.
Choose the dance style
Find out the exact dance class your child has her heart on. Most young girls love to become famous ballerinas someday. Enrolling your little girl to a ballet class is a good start. There are dance instructors who offer mixed classes, especially for beginners and younger dancers. Half of the class session is devoted to ballet, and the other for jazz or tap dance. Check with the instructor if your child can try joining different classes before you finally decide which dance style class to enrolling.
Girls dancewear for dance classes
This is probably the most exciting part of joining dance lessons. Shopping for shoes, tights, and leotards is fun, especially if you let your little kid have a say on the style and colour. However, you need to double-check the instructor. There are dance classes that require specific dance uniforms like a particular colour of leotards and tights. Also, make sure that your child tries on the girls dancewear because leotards and tights are smaller than regular clothes.
Having fun
While dancing is fun and enjoyable, this is also tough work. Children enrolled in a dance class at a young age should look at it as a fun experience, and never as a chore. Observe how your child performs while in a class. Is she smiling? Is she having fun? As with any dance class, the annual dance recital is the real highlight of the lesson. While these are stressful to parents, dance recitals must be a fun experience for the kids.
Talk to your child and see if dancing interests her. If it does, support her to the best of your ability. Otherwise, never push her to do something that she is not comfortable and happy.
