Doing a Summer Detox? Add CBD Oil for Better Results
It’s here. Bikini season is well underway.
The sun is shining and the weather is sweet.
Many people find detoxing appealing in order to eat healthier and cut out sweets and processed foods not to mention the flatter tummy. Every day we’re surrounded by toxins – in the air we breathe, the food we eat from pesticides or processed food, the pint down at your local, the sunshine in your garden or in the face wash you used this morning.
But whilst it may seem like a great idea to go through a cleanse or diet detox, did you know juice fasts, colon cleanse, salt baths and detoxifying face masks don’t actually rid your body of toxins? According to Gregory Rauch MD, an internal medicine physician at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, ‘Cleanses and detox products do nothing to remove toxic substances. “A ‘detoxifying’ cleanser or face mask can remove dirt from your skin, like soap, but it’s not pulling toxins out of your bloodstream,” Rauch says. “That’s a mischaracterization.” [source: https://www.rush.edu/health-wellness/discover-health/truth-about-toxins]
When toxins build up it can cause a bit of a problem, systemic whole-body inflammation can cause a multitude of diseases and symptoms to occur over time. When this happens, people generally decide to go through clearances or detoxes to rid the body of those toxins and maintain peak health.
What can CBD do to possibly help?
CBD or Cannabidiol is found in both hemp (legal in the UK) and marijuana (illegal in the UK). It is one of some 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants and accounts for up to 40% of the plant extract. Because of this, research, marketing materials and blogs, claim that CBD has the potential to cure any number of ailments you may have, including anxiety, depression, joint pain, even cancer.
Cannabis plants produce thousands of compounds, for which the most well recognised belong to a class called cannabinoids. The two most well-known among consumers are THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol). Whilst most people use CBD for medicinal purposes, others use it on a recreational basis also, to induce calm, clarity and relaxation.
CBD can not get you high, unlike cannabis or marijuana which has THC, that activates the psychoactive states within a person’s body giving them an overall high which can affect their mind and other bodily functions.
Detoxing with CBD
Diets and cleanses may give your body a temporary detox fix, but CBD Oil may actually be able to get rid of those toxins for good.
Goodbye toxins, hello CBD! Bonus, it can actually suppress your appetite, unlike it’s illegal brother THC.
It’s already been known that studies have shown that cannabidiol (CBD) is a potent antioxidant leading many scientists to believe that it can help with oxidative neurological disorders.
CBD has been shown to have powerful healing powers in the human body. Studies have shown it can reduce symptoms of pain, anxiety, liver, kidney and GI tract functions, give you extra vitamins, improve your immune system, and reverse damage from toxins. It’s proving so popular of late that it’s no surprise that everyone is interested in CBD. Because protective effects CBD has in the body, scientists believe that CBD detoxifies at a higher degree.
A Study published in 2012 in Free Radical Biology and Medicine
[https://www.drperlmutter.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Cannabidiol-as-an-Emergent-Therapeutic-Strategy-for-Lessening-the-Impact-of-Inflammation-on-Oxidative-Stress.pdf], scientists at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, found that CBD has great potential in limiting inflammation and oxidative stress in various forms.
“Oxidative stress with reactive oxygen species generation is a key weapon in the arsenal of the main system for fighting invading pathogens and to initiate tissue repair. if excessive or unresolved, however, immune related oxidative stress can initiate further increasing levels of oxidative stress that cause organ damage and dysfunction. Targeting oxidative stress and these various diseases therapeutically has proven more problematic than first anticipated given the complexities and perversity of both the underlying disease and the immune response … in this context, the related non-psychotropic cannabinoid cannabidiol, which may interact with the Endocannabinoid System, but has actions that are distinct, office promise as a prototype for anti-inflammatory drug development.”
The report continues, “Information and oxidative stress are intimately involved in the Genesis of many human diseases. Unravelling that relationship therapeutically has proven challenging in part because inflammation and oxidative stress “feed off” each other. However, CBD would seem to be a promising starting point for further drug development given its antioxidant (although relatively modest) and anti-inflammatory actions on immune cells, such as macrophages and microglia.”
