6 Out of The Box Ways to Decorate Your Child’s Bedroom
Decorating a child’s bedroom is trickier than you might imagine.
The decor you choose has to align with your child’s tastes (if they’re old enough to have developed strong opinions). It also needs to be practical; somewhere your little one can sleep, play and enjoy spending time. And lastly, it needs to have room to grow with your child, as their tastes will change dramatically over the coming years. So how do you even begin to design a bedroom with all this in mind, while also keeping an eye on your budget?

Decorate with toys
Kids love their toys, and if they’re arranged well, they can add colour and interest to an otherwise muted bedroom. Line up their favourite action figures or race cars on some open shelves; create a teddy bear sanctuary atop a chest of drawers; or stand their dolls house in the light of a large window. It saves storage; your kids will love it; and it’s easy to alter as their tastes change over time.

Ask your child what colours they want in their bedroom and, chances are, they’ll say something along the lines of ‘rainbow!’ or ‘orange!’
If the thought of a fluorescent bedroom makes your heart sink, don’t fret. You don’t need to reach for the paint brush in order to bring your son or daughter’s favourite colour into their bedroom. A simple neutral or monochrome wall colour matched with brightly coloured curtains makes for a clean, sharp looking space that still has plenty of childish charm. Match the curtains with a few cushions and perhaps a picture or two, and you’re done!

When it comes to deciding what pictures should adorn your child’s bedroom walls, consider something a bit more special and unique than their favourite cartoon character.

Kids love bright colours. Why? Because they’re exciting and speak to their vivid personalities. We grownups often shy away from the colours we loved when we were young, worrying that they are somehow tasteless. But that needn’t be the case.
