4 Tips to Wear a Sequin Dress
If you want to inject a bit of glamour into your look, go for a sequin dress. Whether you choose something long and lean or short and bright, the sequins will do all the work in making this look more party-worthy.
Since the sequin dress is for New Year’s Eve, it’s best to use party-friendly colors. A bold red, vibrant purple or classic black will do just fine. Perhaps you want to stray away from these traditional options and bring in a little bit of your own personality in your choice. It’s entirely up to you.
Here are some tips for wearing it and adding more class to your personality:
1. Formal sequin
Kourtney isn’t the only Kardashian showing off her love of sequin dresses right now (we can thank Kylie for getting sequins back on our radar). Kim stepped out, rocking a sleeveless navy number while out in NYC. If you want to get your hands on one, there are loads of options available – both high street and designer. I also found sequin formal dresses at Miss Runway Boutique, which is an incredibly affordable option…I know what I will be buying this weekend!
2. Daywear
You can wear “sparkly” as daywear! Sequins are a huge trend for fall, so you may want to try some pieces out. Try pairing a sleek sequin skirt with a comfy sweater or sequin pants with an even cozier cardigan.
You’ve seen the 60s-inspired sequins on the runways. And you might think it’s too much bling to wear in real life. But when it’s done right, you can definitely wear sequins as daywear.
All my life, sequin knitwear has been only to be worn in the evening. Tastes change, and I’m so happy about that! The fashion market has evolved to a point where you can wear what you want when you want.
3. Sequin accessories
Wearing all black still makes you look put together, but nothing stops you from bringing in a little color with different hues of black. As well as dresses, you can get plenty of other accessories, including shoes, bags, clutch bags, and belts. Throw in a sequin dress (or jacket), and you’ll be sure to stand out without looking tacky.
If you can deal with the cold, sequins are going to make a big fashion comeback this year. Don’t believe me? Just check out any of the most recent Fashion Week shows. Sequins seem to be everywhere, from fast fashion lines like River Island and Topshop to high-end designers like Christopher Kane.
4. Sheath
So, keeping your silhouette simple can really help toward having that less-is-more look. One thing that I love is not to over-accessorize or wear too much jewelry. The focus should be on the shape of your body.
If you tend to go for form-fitting clothing and don’t like wearing baggy or loose clothing, the lovely thing about summer and this trend is that the sheaths are actually kind of flattering to your figure. The fabrics used in most of these dresses are lightweight. Some are see-through like these mint green sheath style dresses.
